Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
ROSTER NOTES
With United earning its first victory of the 2011 preseason this morning, the players will use the afternoon to recover in a pool conditioning session. Absent from this morning's 5-1 triumph was centerback Dejan Jakovic. The Serbian-born defender is away on international duty with the Canadian senior side in Greece, where Jakovic and company will play a friendly against the 2004 European Champions on Wednesday, February 9. Jakovic is due to return to training camp on Thursday, February 10.
Trialist Charlie Davies wore number 37 in this morning's friendly against the Canadian U-20's, while another striker was dismissed from United training camp. Colombian forward Yessy Mena is no longer with the club and has returned to Envigado FC in Medellin. Thus far Mena is the only player to have left D.C. United camp.
FIU FRIENDLY CANCELLED
United was scheduled to play two friendlies today. Initially the club was set to take on Florida International University in an afternoon match following this morning's game with Canada's U-20's. Unfortunately scheduling conflicts have forced the match to be moved. With the Black-and-Red slated to face Trinidad and Tobago's Under 20 team on Saturday, February 12, the FIU game will likely be rescheduled as a midweek contest.
